KNX & automation

Program the home in plain language. Ontron writes the KNX.

Describe what a room should do. Ontron generates the KNX group addresses and DALI zones — collision-free — places the devices on the plan, prices the job, and exports to ETS6. The addressing that used to take an engineer days, done as your staff design.

In short
What it does: describe a room's behaviour in plain language and Ontron generates collision-free KNX group addresses and DALI zones, places devices on the plan, prices the job, and exports to ETS6. Why it matters: the addressing and documentation that normally takes a KNX engineer days happens as the design is drawn. What stays yours: your devices, your prices, your ETS project — Ontron writes the technical layer; your integrator reviews and commissions.
How a KNX job is designed

Place it, describe it, export it.

Place devices on the plan

Keypads, dimmers, blind and switch actuators, sensors and DALI gateways, dropped onto the floor plan where they belong.

On the plan

Describe the behaviour

Scenes, schedules and logic in plain language — "welcome scene", "night off", "evening dims the cove to 30%."

In words, not addresses

Ontron writes the KNX

Collision-free group addresses, DALI zones, a device schedule and BOQ — exported to ETS6 for your integrator to commission.

Minutes, not days
The engine

KNX first, DALI on the same canvas.

On the plan

Distribution boards, channels and runs — counted and priced

From the devices on the plan, Ontron works out the distribution boards, actuator channels, line couplers, power supplies and cable runs, and prices them from your catalogue. KNX first, with DALI zones generated on the same canvas, so one plan drives both.

Collision-free addressing

It never writes an address that's already taken.

Import the existing ETS project and Ontron generates only free group addresses, keeping the reserved scene band intact. Anything that would clash is quarantined and flagged for you, not silently overwritten.

2 addresses quarantined

1/1/4 and 1/1/9 already exist in the imported ETS project — left untouched, surfaced for you to resolve.

The device schedule & quote

A priced schedule, computed from the plan.

Every device placed on the plan becomes a line on a priced schedule in your branding — with the boards, power supplies, couplers, cable and commissioning the job needs. Your catalogue sets the prices; nothing is estimated by the AI.

  • →Device counts and channels come from the plan, not a guess.
  • →Group addresses and the device list export to ETS6.
  • →Branded PDF for the client; the ETS project for your integrator.
Every assumed figure is flagged, not hidden — so you can defend the quote.

Questions integrators ask

KNX on Ontron, answered.

Does it export to ETS6?
Yes. The generated group addresses and the device list export as an ETS6-ready project, so your integrator opens it in ETS6 and commissions from there.
Who commissions the installation?
Your KNX integrator. Ontron writes the addressing, DALI zones and the device schedule; a professional reviews and commissions. It removes the manual addressing work, not the expert.
What about clashes with an existing project?
Import the existing ETS project. Ontron generates only free addresses and quarantines anything that already exists — flagged for you, never silently overwritten.
KNX only, or DALI too?
KNX first, with DALI zones generated on the same canvas from the same plan. One design drives both.
Is Ontron a KNX-certified product?
No — Ontron is a design-and-commissioning tool that works with your KNX project and exports to ETS6. Final commissioning is done by your certified integrator in ETS6.
